What is Iridology?
Iridology is defined as the science and art of observing marks in the iris that occur as reflex responses to specific tissue conditions in each body organ. Information from each organ is conveyed by nerve connections and terminates in the corresponding sector of the right or left iris, causing changes that are visible upon magnification. Upon examination, practitioners notice variously shaped and colored marks, which indicate the responses to specific conditions in the body. Iridology is a holistic modality, as distinguished from the medical or allopathic modalities, that dates back 150 years to a medical student, Ignatz Von Peczely, who developed the first chart, which mapped body organs to specific regions of the left and right irides.
